Valentine’s Day dinner in Aklan becomes a true celebration of place, produce, and passion at Palay. This year, couples...
Palay (/ˈpaleɪ/) is the Filipino term for both the rice paddy and the un-threshed rice it yields—an enduring symbol of life, sustenance, and resilience in the Philippines.
At Palay, we pay homage to the agricultural roots of our homeland. Set in a quiet hamlet near Malay, Palay Kitchen offers a breathtaking panorama of the countryside—an invitation to pause, savor, and reconnect with the natural rhythm of rural life.
Our cuisine is a thoughtful blend of tradition and innovation—highlighting locally sourced ingredients, honoring time-honored Filipino recipes, and fusing influences from Europe and Asia. More than just food, every plate is a celebration of culture, community, and craft.

A chef, an entrepreneur, and a passionate storyteller whose mission is to reconnect people with the origins of their food. Her culinary journey is grounded in a profound respect for Filipino farmers, cultural heritage, and the slow food movement. Born into a family where meals were more than nourishment—they were acts of love—Cleofe learned early on that food is a vessel of identity and resilience. Her path from humble kitchens to founding Palay was shaped by her dedication to ethical sourcing, traditional techniques, and honoring the stories behind each ingredient. Through Palay, Cleofe works hand-in-hand with local producers, integrating sustainable practices and seasonality into every dish. Her vision is not just to feed, but to inspire: to craft meaningful dining experiences that reflect the soul of the land and uplift the community around it.
Experience calm rooted in culture. At Palay Spa, we blend Filipino healing traditions with modern wellness for a soothing escape that nurtures both body and soul.
